Vehicle management

Location of a moving vehicle and display of collected weather data

Among the duties of the firefighting coordinator is the dispatch and geographical distribution of the vehicles in an optimal manner, to limit the spreading of the fire and, finally, extinguish it. The current location of the vehicles participating in fighting the fire is always shown on the map. For each vehicle, its number is displayed, so that the coordinator and the other people participating in fighting the fire can know the location of the vehicle at any moment.

The coordinator instructs the vehicles about changing their position according to the progress of the fire. Today, the instructions are typically given via VHF. The system offers the coordinator the ability to send written instructions to all vehicles, via the message area of the Fire Manager.

Process of communicating the moving of vehicles to a new location

However, as both the verbal and written indication of the new position of a vehicle cannot be precise, the coordinator is given the ability to specify on the map the next location of the vehicle. This is achieved using the object “next position of vehicle”, which exists for each vehicle, and which the coordinator can move on the map, thus instructing the vehicle to move to the new position. When the vehicle goes to the new position, its current position is identical to the “next position” and, while this is in effect, the vehicle need not move.
